Crazy January

Where do I start? January has had its ups and downs. First the downs, as a church most of us was sick with the nasty bug that was going around and so we have not met all together since before Christmas. With that being said as of January 20, we have started our new series (Life Lessons- I, II, II John and Jude). Also we have a lady that wants to receive the Lord, but every time that we needed to get together to “talk” about it, something has come up.

Let’s talk about the “ups”. As I am writing this the lady that I have been wanting to get together received the Lord tonight (Tuesday January 27th), here is what she said after she prayed  “as I was praying to receive the Lord, this warm feeling came over me”. Isn’t this what it’s all about. We also have a website now: https://brooklynparkcc.org. Thanks to Chris for donating his time and money to help in a area that I have no clue in.

We will be having a Baptism of at least 3 people, maybe 4 in the near future (if you want to be there or just want to know when, let me know).

There are some exciting things going on here at BPCC and I am so glad that I listened to the Lord to do His work in Brooklyn park. I do have some other exciting news to tell you but I  will wait until the next blog.

Once again, thank you all for your prayers and givings to Sherry and I and I am glad to keep you all updated so you can see the results of what your support is doing. Until next time, God Bless and Go MAD

Salvation comes to one

I know that it has been a while since my last blog but there has been a “little” activity going on with us. God has shown me a lot over the last couple of months. I do want to fill you all in on what is happening with every detail, but I will not bore you with all of  that and just give you the highlights.

Since I  last wrote , our church has grown to 11 who faithfully attend our Bible Study. We helped a family from Brooklyn Park Middle school with thanksgiving dinner and just the other day (Dec. 21) we helped 8 families with getting them presents for their kids. I just want to stop and say Praise God for all that He is doing. With that being said we have a partnership with the middle school and can not wait to see how will bless them as well as us through this partnership.

We will be starting our next Bible study on the Epistles to John and Jude next week (December 30th). I have seen growth in the ones that have been coming faithfully. As they have been grwoing I was able to make sure that one of our men, really knew the Lord and He received the Lord this month (That’s what makes it the reason why I do this). We also have 2 more that our on the verge to receiving the Lord. I am hoping and praying that in the new year, we will have at least 4 people that will need to be baptized.

Finally, I introduced our church to the meaning of tithing and it was received well. I told them that I will be taking a small salary starting in January from the funds that they give and what outside funds I get (which again thank you for those that have been giving). Also in the last blog I told you of a fairly large church that was going to see if they were going to add me in their 20115 budget, and the naswer to that was a huge YES!!!

So once again, God has been doing much greatness through this church plant and I am excited to see where He leads us in 2015.

My prayers for this month: That God would lead people to us that can help us grow (i.e. someone to lead music, sound, media, etc.). Yes, Our Church would like to have Sunday services soon, but I told them to be patient (more about this in the next blog)
Another prayer is that I keep following His direction and not mine.

Thank you all again for your prayers and support. And our Lord for being faithful.

God Bless and Go MAD
George

Can Not Stop Us

What can I say about what has happened since the last time I wrote to you all. God has overwhelmed us in many ways, so I am going to share a few with you all. I know that I started out the last post how God has overwhelmed us, but there is more as I said in closing the post.

Since the last time I wrote we have had 3 more Bible studies and as I am writing this one, we will have our fourth. So let me get you all up to speed, first as for “new” people, we have had at least someone new every week except last week so we are averaging 8 on a regular basis (All in God’s timing). I also have put out an email letting you know how you can help support us (If you did not get it, please let me know), but what happen next really began this journey that Sherry and I are on.

The last week of my employment at FBC Edgewater, I was informed from the BCM/D that because of my inexperience that I would not pass the assessment to get funded by NAMB (North American Mission Board). But this is where I have seen God do His work. God had told me a couple of weeks prior to this news that I would face a stumbling block with this Church plant and it would come from someone or something that I would not expect. Praise God that He revealed this to me before the news, not really sure how I would have taken it (I guess God really does know me..lol). So as the news hit me and I did wonder for a bit, he reminded me about how I got into Youth ministry in the first place when another obstacle was in the way (That story for another time). The bottom line from both stories, was I going to listen to man and retreat or was I going to Listen to Him and push forward and as in both cases Sherry and I are pushing forward. So with that being said, Sherry and I are really missionaries (we all are missionaries) but in the sense that we have to raise our own support. BUT this is what God has called us to do and HE will take care of us as long as I stay in His will.

One other story before I close this blog. Some of you, have not only received the email but you have passed it on to your friends and family. The reason I tell you that is because I received a email from a rather large church who said that they were getting ready to do their 2015 budget and they were going to see if they could throw a few dollars my way with no promises. Now that was overwhelming, but the part that really blew me a way was they had asked  about sound equipment, any needs? Also they said, “once you get facilities we may have some men or folks to help with construction.”

Isn’t this what it’s all about, helping others out, I hope that you have been encouraged but what I wrote and that you take some time out to see God work in your life as well as others and see where you can be part of something great for God.

If you want to know anything else about what is going on, please don’t hesitate to email or comment me here.

If you have supported Sherry and I with this church plant either by financial support or prayers , we want to say Thank you!!!

God is working here in Brooklyn Park and I am glad that God has given me the task to reach people with the Gospel.

It only can be from God

Hello Everyone,

Well, as usual I am overwhelmed how God is working through Sherry and I. On Tuesday Sept. 2, we had our first meeting as a new church plant. There were 4 people plus Sherry and I (6 total), which I think is a good start even though I would have loved more, I know in His timing. I thought the night went well, we ate some food, played a little game and then I gave them my Testimony and why God was leading us to a church plant in Brooklyn Park.

As I am writing this paragraph, we have just completed our 3rd meeting and we are up to 10 people, how much can I say, God is AMAZING. He has shown me how to completely trust in Him, which at times we want to jump in front of Him.

Week two we talked about the Lambs book of life and what that meant, after that we dived into John Chapter 3 with Nicodemus and what it means to be born again, and tonight because our books didn’t come in on time (more about how God worked with that in a minute) we talked about how we can live intentionally. Which I believe it went very well and others responded to it quit well.

Now onto the story of the books. When you get involved in a small group (Bible Study) you want to have books that people can take home, read, answer the questions, then come to the group ready to share. Well that cost money and as you should know from my previous blog, money is what we do not have. But God is the One with all the resources. I prayed to God and said to Him, “God, you know that I don’t have the money but I know that you started Sherry and I on this journey, so I know that everything I am doing has to come by you, so I need the money for these books”. To make a long story shorter, I ordered the books and God supplied the money by giving me a check to cover the expenses for the books. PRAISE GOD!!! is all i can say.

I hope that this encourages you as much as it has encouraged me. I have so much more to tell you all but I will leave that for another time.

Welcome

Hello All,

Welcome to our blog, the goal for this blog is to keep you informed of how God is moving in our lives. Once a month (maybe more) we will update you on our journey. I hope that you will keep us in prayer as we move forward.

So where to start? What a crazy, fun, exciting, anxious journey that God has put Sherry and me on. I think that is enough adjectives to use in one sentence.

It started about three years ago when my pastor came to me and told me to get my resume together because money was very tight. So not only did he tell me to put it together, but you might want to put your resume out there, so I did. Since I was a Youth Pastor, that is what I applied for. Six months later nothing materialized, so my thinking was God still wanted me to stay at FBC Edgewater. Fast forward to the following year, same thing was told to me about the lack of money coming into the church. So again I started applying for jobs, but this time God was telling me that Youth ministry is not where He wants me. At this I told God “no”, “you called me into youth and youth is where I am staying”. I can tell you that I struggled with this for almost a year.

Finally around November of last year (2013), I finally gave in and told God, “your will”. When this happened, I prayed to God to reveal what He wanted me to do. I enjoyed preaching so maybe He wanted me to Pastor a church, well after applying to many jobs with no avail, I really was wondering what He wanted from me, until around May of this year (2014) when I went to a church planting meeting reluctantly. It was there that God revealed to me that he wanted me to start a church. I was not ready for that (Still not) but sherry and I have started the journey.

So what does a home church look like? It will start as a Bible Study in our home. So Sept. 2, 2014, we will officially have our kick off. As I am writing this, we know of a couple of cousins that will be coming, we will be going to our neighbors this week to invite them. So when you read this, our prayer is that all of our neighbors will come but I will be thankful even if we only get one to start.

So we ask for your prayers as we following where God leads us. See you in the next blog.
