Scripture: 1 Samuel 17

Often in life we come face to face with giants. When that happens we can adopt one of two perspectives. We can adopt a giant focused perspective or a God focused one. In 1 Samuel 17 David chooses the later and is able to conquer a literal giant. The same can be true of us as we face our giants.

Scripture: Matthew 13:44-58

What is it that you value, that you treasure the most? This is what you spend your time and effort acquiring an showing to others. In Matthew 13 Jesus compares the kingdom of heaven to a valuable treasure and a priceless pearl to which we are called to spend all we have to experience. We are then called to take that treasure and share it with others.

Scripture: Matthew 13:31-35

Jesus compares the kingdom of heaven to a mustard seed and to leaven. Although both start out small, they exponentially grow in size. The same is true of the kingdom of God. Not only did the kingdom of God start with a few apostles and then spread out over the world, the rule of God often starts small in our hearts and then grows until it fills our lives.

The Bible is Profitable

Title: The Bible is Profitable
Speaker: Pastor Darryl J. Stalter
Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:1-17

A pew research poll published April 14, 2017 says that three-quarters of Christians say they believe the Bible is the word of God. Only 42% of Christians said that reading the Bible is an essential part of what being a Christian means to them personally. The question is if the Bible is the Word of God, why do more and more people, Christians included not read it or follow it? The fact is that deep down we either do not believe it to be true or we do not believe it to be useful. Yet, this is what the Bible actually claims to be. 2 Timothy 3:16 states that “All Scripture is God breathed and is profitable.” In other words it is both true and useful.
