Sometimes the gospel message is received eagerly. Sometimes it is not. According to Matthew 13 the difference is not due to the presentation, but due to the heart of the one hearing it. In the Parable of the Sower Jesus identifies four types of heart responses to hearing the message of the kingdom of God. What type of heart do you have?

Jesus often taught in parables. In Matthew 13 the disciples question Jesus on why he spoke in parables rather than directly. His response: so that those with faith can hear and understand.

We are told that everyone is a child of God and that we all are part of God’s family. No matter what we believe or what we do. The problem is that this belief is not biblical and does not match what Jesus taught about the family of God. The true family of God are those who are adopted by Him through the transforming faith in Christ that results in his children looking more and more like Christ.

In our materialistic and naturalistic world, we demand God show us a sign. We demand a sign that He exists. We demand a sign that He loves us. We demand a sign that He is who He says He is. Although There are many signs that point to God, if we are not careful we will miss the only sign that really matters: The death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
